Jennyruth Workshops is a registered charity and social enterprise, based between Ripon & Boroughbridge, where adults who have learning disabilities are trained in a wide variety of skills. Referred to as ‘workers’, and supported by a team of staff and volunteers, they produce and sell a range of hand-crafted products, developing skills in woodwork, painting, needlework, metalwork and card-making. This is supported by a continuous and personalised training programme in numeracy, literacy, IT and communication skills. Our ‘workers’ are involved in all parts of the operation from the receipt of raw materials through to selling the finished goods at local shows and events. We are also stocked by various local businesses and have an online shop. The team welcomes visitors for workshop tours and we regularly visit local schools and groups to speak about what we do and run activity sessions.

We are funded through a mixture of social service funding, grants, fundraising, donations and sales of our products.  Our aim is to create the opportunity for people who have learning disabilities to achieve long-term self-improvement and gain lasting benefits.
