Originally the Government and Harrogate Council both said the Coronavirus Business Cash Grants would be paid to qualifying businesses automatically, however this is now NOT the case. Businesses MUST claim them directly; Harrogate Borough Council will not pay it automatically. Eligible local businesses are encouraged to register for the coronavirus grants. Applications are made using the council’s online Business Information Form.
There are two types of grant available:
- Small business grant funding of £10,000 for businesses receiving (or eligible to receive) small business rate relief or rural rate relief.
- Retail, leisure and hospitality grant funding of up to £25,000 for businesses receiving (or eligible to receive) retail relief.
You can apply for a grant if you are responsible for business rates at a property and your business has been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19). The criteria for these grants mean that businesses can only qualify for one, not both.
Submitted forms will receive an acknowledgement, and the council will contact you with a decision or if any further details are required.
