Plan for 256 new homes in Boroughbridge backed by Council

The final plans for another major housing development in Boroughbridge have been approved at the second attempt by Harrogate Borough Council. Barratt and David Wilson Homes has received outline approval for the Stump Cross site since 2017, but permission for 260 homes was initially rejected last year over concerns the homes had been ‘crammed in” together. The new approval is for 256 homes, just 4 less than the original rejected submission!

While some will no doubt rightly have concerns about the changing face of Boroughbridge due to the number of recent major housing developments and the potential strain on local infrastructure and services, there will arguably be some positives for local businesses. The new development will likely promote further footfall on the High Street and also generate increased demand for other local business services.
